I worked a half day today so I had a lot of much needed time to decompress. This mostly took the form of playing Final Fantasy XII and organizing my stuff, but I took some time after dinner to watch Layer Cake. I started watching this movie a few days ago while at my girlfriend’s place burning some time before we went to see Casino Royale. I was flipping channels until her friend pointed out that movie and just how good it was. I immediately noticed that Daniel Craig was in it, and having never seen him in a movie before, I was interested in getting a sneak peak into what was in store for us.

Anyway, I finally got to see the other 90% of the movie and I was pretty solid. It is definitely a hip English crime movie, along the lines of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or Snatch, so if you did not like those, you probably won’t like Layer Cake. That said, this movie is more mature than the other two and not as funny though it has that same sort of seemingly inept hero who is able to out smart (just about) everyone. As an added bonus, among Layer Cake’s stars is the beautiful Sienna Miller who steals a few scenes.
