How Dirty is Your Building?

There is a great picture over at Gothamist (or would that be The Gothamist?) of a Lower East Side building being powerwashed. Normally this would not be newsworthy, but you won’t believe how much grime comes off of this nice yellow brick building.

I really think that this should be some sort of housing law, that the exterior of the building has to be cleaned every ten years or something like that. I am sure it would be to expensive to be practical, but it would make the city a much more beautiful place. I guess a problem would be we would all be constantly reminded that whatever that all that grime is floating around in the air we are breathing, but I guess that is just part of city life.
