I still have latency issues (but I think that is not a problem with MT and I have to do a traceroute with their tech support), but performance past that as been great. The service is rock solid and it has stood up to a Digg as well as hosting images for some major traffic to my other site. If you are a high demand user though you will want to upgrade to a MySQL container. As for completely failed connections, that is really weird, you may want to get in touch with tech support and have them look at a traceroute or something like that... I just switched to Media Temple 2 weeks ago and their service is awful. I don't use a lot of bandwidth so far, around 1-1.5gb per day on average. My site has been down due to timing out, failed DB connection or just a flat out failed connection at least a few times a day. The only reason I am still with them is because it has been 2 weeks and I just moved everything over, so I would rather wait a few more weeks to see if service improves.
