Reinvigorate.net

For about a month now I have been using the public beta of reinvigorate.net. This is an online analytics program for web site tracking. It is meant to be used instead of (or in addition to) programs like Google Analytics (Urchin) or Statacounter or AWstats, or whatever other program you like.

At the start of the beta I decided to run it on this blog in order to test it out and, if was good, to put it on xyz computing.  Well, the month is up, and I have decided to get rid of it.

Reinvigorate has a very slick, easy to use web interface and it makes it quick and easy to check your stats. It has most of the features I am looking for like, trend charting, the ability to track pageviews, referrals, and entry pages but in the end I don’t think it stacks up to something like Urchin. I do like how it can give me real-time information, such as what pages are active now and how many users the site currently has, but where Reinvigorate.net suffers is in viewing the big picture. This is to say that a lot of specific information is available, but what one user is doing does not interest me. I am looking for something that can give me a great overview of user activity, especially of referrals and traffic trends, and this is where it is weakest.

Reinvigorate.net is great at showing specific information and doing things like tagging individual users, both of which have their purposes and will be invaluable for some sites, but for me I need aggregate information, not details. I need to understand what is happening overall (as well as monthly and daily) more than I need to know what is going on right now.

So Reinvigorate.net has its uses and I really like many things about it, but in the end I think Google Analytics is the way to go. I’ll miss the slick web 2.0 interface but I have no doubt that this is the right move for my needs at Arghyle and XYZ Computing.

I’d seen reinvigorate around the web several months ago. Just got my invite today and I am thoroughly impressed. I’m still running Google Analytics in parallel with it, but might be making the jump soon.
