Fujitsu Going Flash With Two Tablets

The news is out- Fujitsu is adding the option of flash-based storage to two of its products. Cnet is reporting that Fujistu’s P1610D and B6210 will soon be available with flash drives a move that will increase battery life and make the system’s more resistance to drops.
The drives are expensive and their capacity is limited (generally 32-60GB) but they more than make up for that in their “wow” factor. This is a move that the community has been looking forward to for a long time. It is going to happen in small steps, but it is certainly going to spread across the industry sooner or later. By trying the drives out on tablets first Fujitsu will be putting them on systems that: a) reportedly are dropped more often b) are generally purchased by corporate buyers c) have a higher average price than the typical notebook so it looks like a great testing ground for flash storage.
Personally I am a big fan of both of these systems and am really excited by the move. Fujistu has been up to some really interesting things lately and they are definitely a company to keep an eye on if you are into mobile equipment. They don’t have much of a foothold with US consumers but after coming out with the P1610D they have started to get a lot of positive attention.
