Apple- Not so Green?

While Apple’s “iPod white” design has been a huge hit with consumers it looks like the company has something to learn about being green. Business Week has an article saying how Apple ranked last in a recent Greenpeace survey of eco-friendly companies.
Out of 14 computer and cell phone makers Apple was last and Lenovo replaced Nokia as the greenest company. Apple has refuted the findings but Greenpeace is adamant about their claims. It seems like the study was clearly imperfect as the Business Week article brings up a number of shortcomings in how it was conducted, but it is still interesting given Apple’s sparkling reputation.
Greenpeace has launched a Green My Apple site that elaborates on Apple’s hardware manufacturing and talks about their use of toxic chemicals and problems with recycling their products.
From the site:
Apple products – sleek looks, amazing design, meticulous attention to detail. So what’s with the toxic chemicals inside, short life spans and allowing their products to be dumped in Asia?
