Snap’s Shots

So Snap’s upgrade to SPA, Shots, is now running live. No new code was needed for publishers which is good news as I hate to tinker around with plugins once they are working properly. Shots are site-specific Snap preview bubbles. This means what is in the bubble is custom tailored to the site that is being linked to. Not every site gets one, there are nine now and there will probably be a lot more before we know it.
Here is the test run…
I’ve been playing with Shots for a little while now and it marks a great improvement to Snap Preview tool. It still needs some work as far as which sites get their own custom shots (apparently Reuters ordered up a custom one) but I am sure shots for other popular sites will be coming extremely quickly as the technology is obviously in place. Shots for Digg, NY Times, Technorati, Zooomr, Daily Motion and a lot of others would be easy to set up and would keep on adding to the functionality of the shots system. Pretty cool stuff… definitely a good reason to run Shots on your blog or at least to check it out again if you opted out in the past.
