Contact Solution Recall

This is pretty off topic for this blog, but consider it a PSA… for contact wearers it could be a big deal.
AMO issues a voluntary recall for their line of Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose Solution. This is a blue bottle of contact solution with a yellow swirl logo on it. Consumerist has more information.
It just so happens that this is the solution I (used to) use so I am somewhat freaked out, though it appears that risks are very low. From what I have read you should stop using the contacts, solution, and contacts case. AMO has a number you can call (1-888-899-9183) so you can send them in to them. They don’t say why would would send it to them, instead of just throwing it call out, but they will probably test it out. I called my doctor’s office and they just said to throw it out. The interesting thing is that when I inquired about a reimbursement for my just-opened pair of contacts they said AMO did not offer anything, but the doctor would be happy to give me a replacement pair. I don’t think that is official policy and it is probably not something that they will do for everyone, but as a long-time patient/customer I really appreciate it.
Here is the official release.
