Podcast Watch

I’ve really been enjoying my RSS Watch posts and I have gotten a lot of positive feedback on them, in addition to comments from other sites, so I will be doing the same with the Podcasts I listen to. These posts won’t be as often or as fun for two reasons- 1) I am a public radio addict so I get most of my podcasts from them and 2) my podcast selection is a lot more stable than my RSS feeds.

What I regularly listen to:

  • American Public Media’s Market Place
  • National Public Radio’s (NPR): Fresh Air
  • On the Media
  • PRI’s Open Source
  • Studio 360
  • Slate Magazine Daily Podcast
  • Slate Magazine’s Explainer
  • This American Life
  • WNYC’s Brian Lehrer
  • WNYC’s Leonard Lopate
  • Leonard Lopate Please Explain
  • WNYC’s Radio Lab

New:

  • nothing to report

Hot- podcasts that have really been great lately:

  • Studio 360- this show is always solid. They have been very interesting lately and I always look forward to them.
  • Marketplace- this is a great way to catch up on financial news. Somehow they manage to keep it interesting.
  • Radio Lab- consistently the best hour of radio every week, period.

Not- podcasts that have not been so great lately:

  • This American Life- I know this is public radio blasphemy, but this show has not been great lately. The last four or five weeks have just not been interesting plus they have often been really sad or just lacked that special something that we have all come to expect from TAL. When these guys aren’t being funny (or at least amusing) the show can fall apart pretty quickly.

Sorry for not putting in the links. Everyone is available through Itunes or from their respective radio station’s sites’.
